Oceanography is the study of the physical, chemical, and biological features of the ocean, including the ocean’s ancient history, its current condition, and its future. Remote sensing of coastal oceanography refers to analysis of varied coastal processes using space-borne and air-borne sensors. There are many advantages of Remote sensing over the conventional techniques such as synoptic coverage, repeated observations, and area averaging. Satellite oceanography is constrained by its limited accuracy and largely depends upon manifestation of varied underwater processes on the ocean surface due to its high altitude of observations.
